LOW KIANG KIAU (LLB (Hons) Buckingham. U.K. Barrister-at-law Lincoln’s Inn)

Mr. Low Kiang Kiau graduated from University of Malaya with B.Sc. (Hons) in 1973 and Diploma in Education in 1974. He taught in a secondary school in Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan for three (3) years, from 1975 until October 1977. He was posted to another government department in November 1977 as a senior Investigating Officer until his subsequent resignation in July 1983 to pursue his studies in law in the United Kingdom. He was also a member of the Institute of Professional Investigators of United Kingdom.

He graduated with a Second Upper division in law (LL.B) from the University of Buckingham in July 1985. He was called to the English and Welsh Bar at the Lincoln’s Inn in August 1986.

He read in the chambers of Soo Thien Ming & Sharizat and K.P. Woon & Co., and was called to the Malaysian Bar in June 1987. On 1st January 1993 he established the present firm of Low & Lee.

Mr. Low Kiang Kiau is actively engaged in conveyancing, criminal and civil litigation work. He has acted inter-alia for the following banks and financial institutions: Bumiputra-Commerce Bank Berhad, Hong Leong Bank Berhad, Eon Bank Berhad, Hong Leong Finance Berhad and Eon Finance Berhad.

Dato’ John Looi graduated from National University of Singapore in 1989 with an LL.B (Hons). He was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 1990.

In 1992, he was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya. He joined Low & Lee as a Partner in May 2000.

Dato’ John Looi is actively engaged in corporate, conveyancing and banking cases. He has acted for banks like Affin Bank Berhad, Malayan Banking Berhad, RHB Bank Berhad, CIMB Bank Berhad, Public Bank Berhad, MBSB Bank Berhad and many other banking and financial institutions. He has also represented major corporations like the B&G Group of Companies, MCT Group of Companies, New World Development Company Ltd and Johor Port Berhad.

Legal Assistants

Datin Careena Chang graduated from University of London with an LL.B (Hons) (External Programme) in 1990 and passed the Certificate of Legal Practice conducted by the Legal Profession Qualifying Board of Malaysia in 1991. She was called to the Malaysian Bar in 1992. She has wide experience in conveyancing, banking and corporate matters. She joined Low & Lee on 1.9.2001.

Datin Careena Chang has acted for Affin Bank Berhad, Malayan Banking Berhad, RHB Bank Berhad, CIMB Bank Berhad, Public Bank Berhad, MBSB Bank Berhad, United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd and many other banking and financial institutions.

Datin Careena has extensive experience in corporate finance, project financing, general conveyancing, project conveyancing and banking cases.


Lidianatul Syima Binti Ariffin graduated from University of Malaya with an LLB degree (with honours) and was called to the Malaysian Bar on 8.4.2005. She commenced her legal practice with a legal firm in Selangor where she was exposed to both civil & criminal litigations, banking, corporate and conveyancing matters.

Subsequently, she joined National Aerospace & Defense Industries Berhad as a legal advisor, where she advised all the various departments in the said company on corporate & legal matters.

Lidianatul Syima Binti Ariffin rejoined the private practice in 2007. Since then, she has been actively involved in conveyancing and banking work including development projects, purchase of land, subsale cases, refinancing cases and preparation of security documentation (both convetional and Islamic security documentation).

She has also acted for UEM Sunrise Sdn. Bhd., Johor Land Berhad, I&P Sdn. Bhd., and also various local and international banks.


In 2003, Cik Norlia joined a legal firm as a Conveyancing Secretary. Subsequently, while still working as a Conveyancing Secretary, she pursued an off-campus learning programme in Bachelor of Legal Studies and LLB(Hons) Programme. She successfully completed the courses and graduated from University Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in year 2015 with LLB (Hons) and was called to the Malaysian Bar on 18 October 2016.

Cik Norlia has vast experience in the area of conveyancing, land law, company law and banking litigation. She was the lawyer in charge of conveyancing and corporate cases in her previous firm. Cik Norlia joined Low & Lee on 2.10.2017. Cik Norlia is presently handling conveyancing and corporate cases.
